Beautiful Lake Superior and Lake Michigan
I love when I let my instincts prevail and I bring my camera equipment.
We spent an extended weekend in the Midwest for a wedding and visiting family. Initially I wasn’t going to bring my equipment with the thought that I wouldn’t have much time to take photos with all the traveling and dealing with wedding stuff, but in the end I figured it was just one more bag, and it wouldn’t make that much of a difference. I am extremely happy I brought everything. I woke up early a few mornings, as well as set some specific times in the evening to get some great shots, especially in Chicago.
We started the weekend adventures in Copper Harbor, MI. The best way to describe the location of Copper harbor is the norther tip of the upper peninsula off of the upper peninsula of Michigan. It’s a small little town on the beautiful shoreline of Lake Superior. We didn’t have a lot of free time with all the wedding activities, but I managed to spend part of Saturday morning taking a few sunrise photos, as well as general lake photos.
The next stop on our trip was Chicago. We visited with my family as well as some family friends. We were extremely fortunate that they had access to a sailboat while we were in town and had an opportunity to take a sunset cruise out on Lake Michigan. This gave us spectacular views of Chicago with the glowing orange and blue of the sunset in the back drop.
We also had a chance to get some close up views of the spectacular sailboats that grace the waters of Lake Michigan. The combination of these with a full moon make for a spectacular evening. We entangled ourselves in a few other adventures, making for a fun and exciting evening.
The next day was a full day, from sunrise shots, to a trip through the zoo (check back later this week for a really fun picture), and watching the full moon rise behind the lighthouse off Navy Pier. Great food, great company and great photos. Enjoy the rest of the pictures!
Great stuff Nate, really enjoyed them all. Incredible colors. Even more impressive is that you took that cityscape from a sailboat.
Wonderful images Nate, beautiful is right, you have really captured the beauty of the area. You have such a wide range of images from landscapes to cityscapes and all of them are great. Very well done.
